Presenter: Carleena Angwin ’01, Host/Producer of The Carleena Show podcast
Description:
Have you ever listened to a podcast and thought you could offer a new or different perspective? Did you hesitate because you thought podcasting would be too difficult or expensive?
For years, Carleena Angwin was both a fan and critic of podcasts, convinced certain perspectives and topics weren’t getting as much bandwidth as she would have preferred. In 2018, she acted on her critiques and created The Carleena Show podcast. Carleena finds and interviews guests from around the world who have hands-on or misunderstood professions and can shed light on the human experience. She interviews guests who have overcome adversity and offer a message of hope. Carleena draws from her unique experiences growing up in a working-class community in upstate New York, serving as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Central America, studying narrative journalism in the Northeast, and addressing public health concerns in Tennessee. She intentionally chooses people from diverse economic, social, political, and geographic backgrounds. Most of the guests are ordinary people, not celebrities or people seeking fame.
In this webinar, Carleena will cover:
- How do you pick a podcast name and theme?
- What message do you want to share?
- Where do you find guests?
- How do you decide what subject areas to cover?
- What does communication look like with a guest prior, during and after the interview?
- What are some of the programs and software to get started?
